Water brushes have revolutionised painting and journaling on the move

A water brush has a soft plastic barrel which can be filled with water. When you squeeze the barrel, water enters the bristles, thus eliminating the need for a separate water container. It also makes cleaning the brush between colours a breeze. These are great for watercolour sketching on location. All you need is a waterbrush, a small set of half pan watercolours, or set of watercolour pencils, a sketchbook, plus some tissue paper or a rag. No more water bottle and cup. If you use a small sketchbook, your entire set up will fit in a pocket.  The barrel is slightly flattened, so it does not roll off your work surface when you put it down.

This versatile nylon-tipped brush pen from Pentel has firm bristles that always come back to a fine point. It can be used in several ways -

• fill the barrel with any water-soluble medium (water-soluble inks, watercolours or gouache) to use for lettering or painting.
  
• just use water, and pick up watercolour or gouache colour from your palette to create great wash effects. You can control the density of colour by squeezing on the barrel of the Pentel brush pen to make the brush wetter or drier.
  
• It's also an ideal companion for the Derwent Watercolour pencil artist - using a water filled barrel you can create imaginative blends and washes with your pencils, or simply take colour from the tip of your pencil with the brush

NB: Wash in warm water before first use.
